Buffalo has 'extended stay' hotels, and other options. Some landlords may be willing to offer short-term stay rentals in some situations.

Because Buffalo has a lot of housing opening up as factory jobs move out, most who want to buy a house these days can find a bank willing to make a deal. Add to that the large college population (both students, and TA's, ajunct faculity, and advisors), and you have a city with all levels of apartments available pretty much year round.
