I moved to Buffalo in July of 2008. After having years to enjoy RocWiki, I said to myself, "Man, someone should make a BufWiki." Well I needed to stop complaining and start making it; so, here's my attempt to make a public utility that will help all Buffalonians. Enjoy!

March 21st, 2009: Created my 100th page!

2008-12-03 17:39:06   My new job has gotten overwhelming, but I will be back soon. —DavidMonroe

2008-12-06 21:31:25   I'm back and I've broken 200 contributions. I'm looking to break 60 pages and 200 edits soon. Woooot. —DavidMonroe

2008-12-15 23:05:10   Hi Dave, we are still in Virginia, yesterday was the Memorial Gathering and today we closed some things out and tonight sorted things in her room. Tomorrow we head back to Webster. Anyway, I had a few minutes waiting and could not resist a few edits. —BradMandell

2008-12-16 23:22:24   Hey, no problem... it's a bit icy right now, but when the weather gets better (or Spring arrives, which may come first), my wife and I have an Erie/Buffalo/Rochester trip planned. I was happy to see this wiki start getting some edits. —Evan 'JabberWokky' Edwards

2008-12-21 13:05:52   My back went out and I'm out of commission. I can't use the computer for long periods of time. It's a great day for snuggling under the covers and adding to the wiki. :-( I guess I'll check out those things called books. Be well all. —DavidMonroe

2008-12-28 20:31:59   Welcome back Dave, things are starting to flush out nicely. I will be away some this week visiting the kids and grandkids in Wheeling, WV. Will have a special feeling as we tool past Buffalo on I90. —BradMandell

2008-12-29 20:38:22   Hi Dave, fixed the Kostas page. I would let you know that the Wegmans page map does not work and I think it may be related to some changes Ryan Tucker had to make to RocWiki for multiple addresses on one page - maybe check with him?? —BradMandell

2009-01-01 11:58:26   Hi Dave, I did wave and take photos of the I290 exit (as well as others in Buffalo area) - will upload later as time permits. Still in Wheeling WV with the grandchildren. As to the Templates, etc - I think there is a good discussion to be had about making some style and tone decisions, including how to do templates. Will try to focus on it a bit as soon as I can - probably better done in the BufWiki Group. HAPPY NEW YEAR (;>} —BradMandell

2009-01-05 15:50:39   Hi again Dave, sorry I have not had much time to respond about the templates - I am on travel until the 12th, so only sporadic visits when I can steal a minute - you may note on the Interstate 90 page that I did wave my camera at 270 (;>)

2009-01-20 20:01:32   Hi Dave, sorry to take time away from BufWiki, but I decided to help Tobin Fricke, one of RocWiki's founders, flush out his new Baton Rouge Wiki. It is in part my way to lend a hand to the area impacted by Katrina. My daughter got a chance to go to New Orleans, but I did not - so a little help from afar, even if it is ONLY a wiki (;>) I will get back to BufWiki again. —BradMandell

2009-01-21 18:32:12   Hi Back - now I got inspired by the Inauguration and am working on a new Wiki Tithe Your Time devoted to encouraging and helping folks to volunteer. Just a Work in Progress at the moment. —BradMandell

2009-01-25 13:39:04   David, I am willing to help if I can, but I do not have any direct experience with Admining on WikiSpot, though I did just start one myself. I am away from the web quite a bit over the next month, so I may not be able to do much. Anyway, go ahead and add me just in case something bad is happening to the site while you are not able to be on. —BradMandell

2009-01-30 21:29:08   Hi Dave, I am down in VA for grandson's birthday party tomorrow. I just finished constructing a methodology for putting either Free WiFi or Other WiFi entries on individual pages that will result in getting each of the pages listed on a single page. By doing it this way it is not necessary to both link to the WiFi page and then go to that page and add the listing. The macro LinksHere will generate the list automatically. I originally was going to include the Free and Other pages in the Main Wifi Hotspots page, but that breaks the LinksHere macro implementation. Look at WiFi Hot Spots (and linked pages) and Talk Page. May seem a little complicated at first, but I think it will work well. I made the Icons myself, so you can replace them as you see fit. —BradMandell

2009-02-19 11:01:42   Hi Dave, having a great time in Florida (:>) —BradMandell

2009-03-21 11:37:20   Hi Dave, back home in Webster, NY - have been helping out on Syracuse, Ithaca, and Binghamton as well as RocWiki. I hit the 5000 contributions mark yesterday on RocWiki (:>) —BradMandell

2009-10-07 08:27:18   Hi Dave, I hope that the classroom project is done now and I will be able to edit the pages for BufWIki. We had some real problems earlier on RocWiki with UR students and class projects, so I decided to put together the guide to address them here before they come back again. You may not have seen the comment that Comm336 left on my WikiSpot User Page complaining that I had edited "his" page.

I hope we may get a chance to get together sometime and talk a bit about the mission and vision for BufWiki that goes beyond the "infrastructure" and promotion that have been my latest focus. —BradMandell

2010-01-07 13:17:38   Ah! I found the "users" page. small step but for me, something. Hello David. Is it possible to change the sort order of the comments? (I assume not, but had to ask.) —MartinGugino

2010-01-08 15:01:24   Hi Dave, my brother and his wife arrive for 10 days this evening and will have kids and grandkids here for Martin Luther King weekend. Maybe we could manage a meetup sometime after the 19th and do some BufWiki planning. We are getting occasional visitor hits (see the SiteMeter below) but no one other than me, BuffaloBob, and now Martin is doing anything here. I have built a lot of infrastructure, we just need some interested stakeholders that will work and flush out the business, organization, and government units portions of the wiki. —BradMandell
